Fall fun in the great outdoors – Ottawa children’s photography

This fall I was able to take some fun outdoor photos of the boys. We went for a few walks in places we don’t normally get out to and I figured it was a good opportunity to bring the camera along. A lot of times they like to ham it up for the camera. However, throw in an unusual outdoor scene, and the camera takes a back seat to the excitement of exploring and fun in the outdoors.

The boys – Ottawa children’s photography

The boys

I recently did a photo session with my two boys. I tried to keep it short for them, and I actually had enough time to get them with a few different outfits and props. Getting the two of them together for photos can definitely raise their energy levels to 10. Sometimes you just never know what sort of expressions you might happen to capture. They definitely keep you on your toes. While I might be trying to get them in certain poses, I really do need to keep one eye on them and be ready to press the shutter at any time.

Christmas in January

Liam and Nathan Christmas portraits
After a little hiatus due to a busy December, it’s time to start blogging again. Here are a few Christmas pictures of the boys. Had I posted these in December I would have gotten in trouble for showing them before people received their Christmas cards.

Testing out the white seamless

This week I started working with my white seamless. I had to figure out a setup in my basement that would work for me, easy to setup and easy to tear down. At this point I’m only using it as a background. The basement is carpeted, so having people stand on the white seamless would cause creasing. I’d go through it faster and it wouldn’t look good in photographs. I need to get some sort of hard surface to put underneath to keep everything crisp. But as they say, work with what you have. So here are a few shots of my son Liam having fun in front of the camera, as I start to work out my setup, figure out distances, light placement, etc.

365 Project – Day 162

Liam and Tupper

This afternoon Liam, Tupper and I went for a walk through the forest that backs onto our street. Tupper loves getting off his leash and wandering where he pleases. I hate picking the burrs and leaves out of his fur afterwards. Liam was upset about not taking his wagon on our daily walk. But once we got onto the path in the forest, the wagon was ancient history.

This past weekend I tried a quick photo shoot with my son Liam and his younger cousin. To keep things fun for them, I pulled out the ball popper and balls and let them loose.

365 Project – Day 29

hunter at play
My little nephew came over for a visit today. He decided to skip his nap, so I took the opportunity to take some photos. He wasn’t being very cooperative, or full of smiles, due to the skipped nap. I decided to pull out the ball popper and photograph him at play.
